Welcome to our new Executive Director Blog. This is not a one way communication. I will be posting my thoughts on topical issues and projects with the hope of initiating a dialogue. We need your feedback.
The Navigators USA is a bottom up rather than top down organization. As a new and developing enterprise, we need to come up with new solutions to your needs as members and the only way to do that is to hear from you.
The topic today is the Boy Scouts of America’s reconsideration of their discriminatory policy.
Of course, The Navigators USA would like to see the BSA change their policy for everyone’s sake, but beyond that we need not get involved. It is their business and we hope they do the right thing.
People have been asking us whether it will affect our organization if they do change their policy. I think it may slow the pace of growth, but we are attracting people for a variety of reasons beyond that one issue. If you look at this website or search Facebook for some of our Chapters you will see an organization being formed that is different from traditional scouting groups. I am very excited about what I’m seeing. And I don’t plan on having an answer anytime soon to, “What is the Navigators USA?” It’s too early. I have a list of ingredients. What is on your list?
